Foods that Increase Cancer Risk
Although we do know that the causes of cancer might be varied, from physical sources (air pollution, water pollution, dangerous chemicals in your food, etc.) to psycho-social factors (work stress, chronic anxiety, family abuse, etc.). There is a growing body of studies indicating that cancer risk can be decreased by following a healthy diet composed of anti-inflammatory foods and preventing conditions by which oxidative stress, or the state where your body does not have enough antioxidants to neutralize free radicals, occurs.
So to conclude that long statement, we need to steer clear of foods that create inflammation in the body. Thus, increase cancer risk.
What are the foods that cause inflammation in the body?
Refined carbohydrates usually can be found on baked sweet bread like cakes, cookies, bagels, doughnuts, milkshakes, etc. They contain a lot of sugar which is not the kind of sweets the body needs.
Refined carbohydrates also raise blood sugars which aren’t very good for the body. These refined carbohydrates – like potatoes, fruit juices, and processed cereal grains – have a high starch level but low fiber.
When you talk of sugar, a component of the baked goods that are examples of refined carbohydrates too. You can’t help but mention ice cream, mousses, candies, cookies, local rice cakes, milkshakes, sundaes, etc. Anyone who has a sweet tooth will understand why people who eat sugar-based foods are prone to obesity and heart disease.
Usually raised in farms where feeds are not organic, these kinds of meat are usually riddled with antibiotics and hormones to keep them fat and well-fed. Farm-raised meat might sound like it’s raised on a real, green farm with verdant pastures – but the opposite may be the case. Animals may be kept in pens and hardly left to graze in wide open pastures. Certainly, meat from unhappy cows will have an impact on the person who consumes them.
In the Philippines, there is a proliferation of pesticides and herbicides that go into grass and other plants consumed by cows, hogs, and poultry. Based on a previous blog post we wrote before (see here: _______ ), there are also pest-resistant crops that are produced by pesticide manufacturer Monsanto that have GMO content. All these go to cow and hog feed, which eventually end up in our systems. This largely is the reason why a lot of meat and dairy eaters also get sick of these dangerous chemicals. Messing up with our bodies and eventually develop into cancer.
Refined oils include Canola, soybean, and safflower oil. These are oils that have reduced minerals and vitamins because of the manufacturing process they undergo. A great body of evidence also shows that a lot of Americans have been having heart disease. This is due to the wide availability of soybean and canola oils.
Well, there you have it – all the foods that you should be avoiding to prevent inflammation. Of course, you still have to undergo a rigid, healthy, active lifestyle to be in tip-top shape. Such as, doing brisk exercise 20-30 minutes at least three times a week . Remember, obese people have a higher risk of cancer due to all that inactivity.
